Breakthrough
It's Time to Change "Normal"
Less than half of the girls starting class 1, stay and complete school. Why? 1 in 5 get married before 18, some pulled out to do household chores, and others, denied in the name of safety. All that potential destroyed, before it can be realized. As we approach 2026 and celebrate our country’s incredible journey, we are also faced with a difficult truth. In many parts of India, girls are still denied their freedom to study, choose, and grow—simply because they are girls.
At Breakthrough, we’ve worked for 26 years to change this reality—one girl, one community at a time. Just last year, we have reached over 1.5 lakh young people with our equity curriculum, Taaron Ki Toli, in 4 states. Because of this, more and more girls are speaking up for their rights and changing things not just for themselves, but also for their communities. Just look at this lovely story here!
Today, we come to you for help. We need to urgently raise the following amounts to support 6000 more adolescents stay in school, delay early marriages, and make their own career decisions:
1) USD 100 supports the enrollment of 3 children in our school program
2) USD 350 supports our work across 10 Gram Panchayats to reduce early marriage and school drop outs.
